Questa volta tocca alla bella e incredibile Dubai ! Una delle città più visitate al mondo grazie anche all'aereoporto internazionale con il maggior traffico al mondo gestito dalla Dubai Airports Company e sede di una delle migliori compagnie aree al mondo, nonchè la nostra preferita :-)
Molti mi chiedono "Ma cosa ci trovi di bello in Dubai ? Cosa c'è da vedere ?"... Beh è proprio lì il bello... noi ci siamo stati due volte a distanza di 4 anni ed è incredibile vedere con quale velocità e con quale capacità questa città si trasforma e realizza progetti architettonici e attrattive per noi assolutamente impensabili.
Da un punto di vista etico, ci sarebbe da scrivere e discutere a lungo sulla storia degli ultimi decenni di questa città e il suo sviluppo apparentemente senza senso. Tuttavia va dato merito agli Emiri di essere stati lungimiranti dal punto di vista della crescita economica, consapevoli che il petrolio non sarà più il futuro.
Dubai è una città che potrei tranquillamente definire tra le più "sicure" al mondo. La legge locale che si basa sui dettami islamici (moderati) è rispettata e fatta rispettare senza troppi problemi.

Dovete considerare che solo il 20% della popolazione di Dubai è di origine "locale", il restante 80% sono stranieri che vivono e lavorano li, europei inclusi.
La maggior parte degli abitanti hanno origini asiatiche (India e Pakistan in primis), in quanto sono loro il motore che manda avanti e fa funzionare le centinaia di hotels e ristoranti della città.
Detto questo non vi renderete comunque conto di questa maggioranza, in quanto la maggior parte sono invisibili agli occhi dei turisti in quanto lavorano in cucine, imprese di costruzioni, imprese di pulizie e così via. Quello che vedrete sono le decine o centinaia di macchine e barche di lusso da cui spesso escono uomini da affari o giovani principi arabi e le loro ingioiellate fidanzate/consorti (tutte o quasi con rigoroso velo).

Torniamo però al nostro viaggio. Partiamo dal clima. Dubai ha un clima subsahariano e questo significa che è il posto meno adatto ad essere visitato durante la nostra estate dove le temperature raggiungono tranquillamente i 50°C.
Da Novembre ad Aprile le temperature sono molto più piacevoli. Il clima secco e ventilato offre escurzioni termiche diurne tra i 20 e 30 gradi. Ovviamente per chi vuole c'è la possibilità di fare il bagno nelle calme acque del Golfo Persico.

Le spiagge in città sono quasi tutte artificiali (la sabbia è quella del deserto e spesso è riportata artificialmente perchè costruendo qua e la hanno modificato la costa) e quindi non immaginatevi le acque cristalline dei tropici o barriere coralline. L'acqua del mare è pulita e abbastanza calda, ma la trasparenza dipende dalla sabbia in sospensione :-)
Gli amanti del Diving potranno comunque effettuare immersioni in diversi siti vicini e ammirare relitti e mini reefs.
A Dubai ovviamente si parla arabo, ma tutti conoscono l'inglese e molti a volte capiscono e parlano l'italiano ;-)
Il mezzo migliore per spostarsi a Dubai è il taxi (abbastanza economico) o la metropolitana sopraelevata che attraversa tutta la parte "nuova" della città fino a Dubai Marina e oltre. In alcuni punti la metro "incrocia" il Tram che effettua un percorso ad anello abbastanza comodo. Inoltre per chi volesse visitare "La Palma", l'isola artificiale che ha appunto la forma di palma, c'è una monorotaia che dalla costa vi porta fino al bellissimo hotel Atlantis The Palm (al cui interno c'è anche un parco di divertimenti acquatico). Per i più intraprendenti si può comunque noleggiare l'auto, ma occhio al traffico... a volte in certi orari può essere molto sfidante !
Le distanze a Dubai sono sempre piuttosto notevoli... non è esattamente una città da esplorare a piedi, fatta eccezione per alcune mete. Quindi il mio consiglio è di organizzare bene le vostre giornate per cercare di ottimizzare al massimo tutti gli spostamenti.
Per esempio se decidete di vedere la parte "vecchia" di Dubai, pianificate di partire con la vostra escursione a piedi la mattina (dipende da dove ovviamente decidete di alloggiare) iniziando dal quartiere Al Fahidi, proseguendo attraverso il suk dei tessuti, un giro sul Dubai Creek e quindi dopo aver attraversato il "fiume", fate un giro verso i suk delle spezie e dell'oro.
Vi assicuro che vi servirà almeno tutta la giornata anche perchè in zona ci sono diversi musei e centri culturali che meritano una sosta.

Le escursioni più "gettonate" sono ovviamente quelle che vi portano nel deserto a cavalcare le dune con potenti fuoristrada. Oppure, sempre nel deserto, si può andare a dorso di cammello, con opzione di cena araba in tenda. Molto interessanti sono le corse dei cammelli (sport nazionale da queste parti) e le attività legate all'addestramento dei falchi (gli animali preferiti dei principi e emiri locali).
Non perdetevi un giro in barca sul Dubai Creek con un Abra, la tipica imbarcazione locale.
Da vedere i vari Suk di spezie, oro e tessuti.

Sempre in tema di posti da mille e una notte, ma assolutamente finto, è il Madinat Jumeirah, un piccolo quartiere che ospita un lussuoso resort, alcuni ristoranti e negozi tutto ambientato in perfetto stile del 1800.
I parchi di divertimento sono ovunque, tra attrazioni acquatiche e i più "tradizionali" Lego, Warner e così via. Il parco botanico di Dubai ospita delle bellissime "sculture" floreali e una quantità innumerevole di piante e fiori da tutto il mondo.
Finito ? Ma va... almeno una visita la merita il Dubai Mall, ai piedi del maestoso grattacielo Burj Khalifa (che si può anche visitare per godere di una vista mozzafiato dal 178° piano).
Al Dubai Mall potrete ammirare il suo acquarium con tanto di grotta sommersa dove camminare tra squali e pesci tropicali, per chi vuole c'è anche la possibilità di immergersi per una nuotata con gli squali toro. Inoltre sempre al Dubai Mall si trovano le famose e bellissime fontane danzanti di Dubai.
Dovete considerare che il Mall vi porta via almeno mezza giornata, quindi pianificate il giro in modo che per cena possiate prenotare un tavolo vista fontane e gustarvi così del buon cibo (vi consiglio un ristorante Libanese) e anche lo spettacolo di acqua e luci delle fontane.
La visita al Burj Khalifa è bene prenotarla in anticipo, in genere ci sono delle belle code, ma volendo potete saltare la coda pagando (parecchio) un biglietto a priorità che vi permette di salire fino al 178° piano (circa 400 metri di altezza, il grattacielo misura in totale oltre 800 metri). Da li potrete accedere al museo che illustra la costruzione di questa meraviglia architettonica e al terrazzo panoramico (se il vento lo permette) per una vista unica della città.
Per i più facoltosi, il Burj Khalifa ospita l'Armani Hotel e la sua esclusiva terrazza ristorante :-)
Oltre al Dubai Mall, altro simbolo del consumismo sfrenato è il Mall of Emirates che inlclude al suo interno anche la famosa pista da sci.
Nella zona nuova di Dubai le maggiori attrazioni si trovano lungo le spiagge e negli immediati dintorni.
The Walk è un percorso pedonale lineare di 3 km che attraversa spiagge, negozi, hotels e attrazioni varie nella zona di Jumeirah Beach. Altro bellissimo percorso pedonale il Jumeirah Corniche, 15km di pista per fare jogging lungo la spiaggia e andare in bici.
La Dubai Marina è un altro posto da vedere. Un quartiere costruito intorno ad un canale artificiale e ospita molti locali interessanti, oltre ovviamente a resorts e uffici vari.

Da Dubai Marina è possibile effettuare un escursione sul canale e lungo la costa utilizzando il Ferry che vi porterà fino ai pressi del famoso Burj Al Arab, l'hotel 7 stelle più lussuoso del mondo.
Le nuove attrazioni (che stavano costruendo quando ci siamo stati l'ultima volta) sono la gigantesca ruota panoramica sulla spiaggia di Jumeirah e la "grande cornice" che permette di realizzare delle foto particolari di Dubai :-)
Chi vuole accedere al Burj Al Arab, deve necessariamente essere un ospite dell'hotel. L'unica alternativa è prenotare un tavolo al ristorante, con ovvi impatti sul portafoglio ;-)
[DOVE DORMIRE]
L'unica cosa di cui non preoccuparsi a Dubai è quella di trovare un alloggio. L'unica cosa di cui preoccuparsi a Dubai invece è quanto volete spendere :-)
Noi abbiamo dormito sia in hotel che in appartamento. Considerate che gli hotels sono tutti di buon livello soprattutto perchè sono pensati per turisti facoltosi e quindi anche le tariffe spesso sono in linea. Tuttavia è possibile dormire anche con cifre ragionevoli.
La prima volta che siamo andati eravamo in tre e avevamo trovato un'offerta molto buona in un albergo della catena Rotana (https://www.rotana.com) che includeva la prima colazione (cosa non scontata) e una camera spettacolare di 65mq con vista sul golfo.
La secondo volta che siamo tornati a distanza di 4 anni eravamo in quattro :-) e visto che gli hotels erano quasi tutti fuori budget e avevamo bisogno di cucinare per il nostro bimbo di 18 mesi, abbiamo optato per un bellissimo appartamento in zona Dubai Marina. Amwaj Suites Jumeirah Beach Residence gestito dalla catena Roda Hotels (http://www.roda-hotels.com/)
130mq di appartamento con due camere, tre bagni, sala principesca e cucina abitabile... dovete considerare che le dimensioni delle camere qua sono di gran lunga diverse rispetto agli alberghi del resto del mondo...
Comunque, di solito gli hotels, resort e appartamenti che si trovano lungo la costa nelle vicinanze delle spiagge sono i più cari. I prezzi scendono nei dintorni della città vecchia e nelle vicinanze dell'aeroporto. Variano un pò lungo il percorso della metropolitana che costeggia la strada ad alto scorrimento (6 corsie per senso di marcia) che porta il nome dello Sceicco Zayed* (scomparso da diversi anni) e artefice, di fatto, di cio che sono diventati gli Emirati Arabi Uniti oggi.
Comunque il modo per risparmiare c'è sempre, ci vuole solo molta pazienza nel trovare delle buone offerte sia sui site degli hotels o attraverso i soliti booking.com, tripadvisor, airbnb o anche homeholidays.

[COSA MANGIARE E DOVE]
Altra cosa di cui non dovrete preoccuparvi a Dubai è il cibo ! Ci sono ristoranti, supermercati, fastfood e street food ovunque e a qualunque ora del giorno e della notte. Funzionano molto bene anche le varie piattaforme di consegna a domicilio come Uber Eats, Deliveroo e simili (nel caso avete preso un appartamento e siete troppo stanchi per uscire a cena dopo una giornata di escursioni).
A Dubai non c'è una vera e propria cucina locale. Ovviamente l'influenza qua è araba e quindi se scegliete un ristorante arabo non sbagliate, però c'è davvero qualunque cosa... dal sushi al cinese, dal thailandese al libanese, italiano ovviamente ovunque con pizza e pasta... hamburgers e insalate e chi più ne ha e più ne metta.
Noi, quando abbiamo affittato l'appartamento abbiamo ovviamente deciso che per risparmiare e per necessità dei bimbi avremmo cucinato la maggior parte delle cene e preparato i pranzi da asporto. Nelle vicinanze del nostro alloggio c'era un fornitissimo Carrefour (proprio nel mezzo di Dubai Marina) al cui interno aveva anche un macellaio dedicato ai non mussulmani che lavorava la carne di maiale.
Se decidete di prenotare un hotel, verificate bene che la colazione sia inclusa, spesso non lo è, e come nelle peggiori tradizioni made in USA (esportate con successo in tutto il mondo) costa assi cara.
[DUBAI CON I BAMBINI]
Ovviamente essendo questo un blog per Family Travellers, la nostra attenzione va tutta ai nostri piccoli nanetti con lo zainetto. :-)
Come vi ho già detto, Dubai è una città assolutamente sicura e pensata per le famiglie.
Vi stupirete di quanti bambini incontrerete in giro e di quante famiglie numerose (malgrado la vacanza potrebbe non essere del tutto economica). Le attrazioni sono pensate per le famiglie, gli hotel sono attrezzati per i piccoli ospiti e così pure i ristoranti e qualunque altra cosa.
Dovete pensare che all'areoporto di Dubai esiste un servizio di passeggini di cortesia assolutamente gratuito che potrete utilizzare una volta scesi dal vostro aereo in attesa di recuperare i bagagli e il passeggino che avete consegnato alle hostes prima del vostro imbarco. Questo solo per darvi un'idea di cosa vi aspetta...
Dubai ha molti centri medici, ospedali e centri pediatrici. Ci sono farmacie ovunque e ben fornite. Ricordatevi però che un'assicurazione viaggio va sempre stipulata perchè qualunque visita medica di emergenza è a pagamento e gli imprevisti possono sempre esserci.
Noi non viaggiamo mai senza una copertura che ci assicuri il massimo della serenità. Preferiamo risparmiare sull'hotel, ma mai su una assicurazione seria.
Detto questo, ricordatevi che Dubai ospiterà l'Expo nel 2020 e quindi la città è tutt'ora in grande fermento evolutivo.

[ENGLISH VERSION] - Dubai, the incredible city
And here we are!
This time it's up to the beautiful and incredible Dubai! One of the most visited cities in the world thanks to the international airport with the most traffic in the world managed by the Dubai Airports Company. This is also the headquarter of our favourite Air Company :
Many people ask me "But what are you looking for in Dubai? What is there to see?" ... Well, that's right there, the beauty ... we've been there twice in 4 years and it's amazing to see with which speed and with what capacity this city is transformed and realizes architectural projects and attractions that are absolutely unthinkable for us.
From an ethical point of view, we would have to write and discuss for a long time about the history of the last decades of this city and its seemingly meaningless development. However, the Emirs must be credited with being forward-looking from the point of view of economic growth, aware that oil will no longer be the future.
Dubai is a city that I could easily define among the "safest" in the world. Local law based on Islamic (moderate) dictates is respected and enforced without too much trouble.
You have to consider that only 20% of the population of Dubai is of "local" origin, the remaining 80% are foreigners who live and work there, including Europeans.
Most of the inhabitants have Asian origins (India and Pakistan in the first place), as they are the engine that drives the hundreds of hotels and restaurants in the city.
That said, you will not be aware of this majority, as most are invisible to tourists because they work in kitchens, construction companies, cleaning companies and so on. What you will see are the tens or hundreds of luxury cars and boats from which businessmen or young Arab princes often come and their jeweled girlfriends / spouses (all or almost rigorously veiled).
But we return to our journey. Let's start with the weather. Dubai has a sub-Saharan climate and this means that it is the least suitable place to be visited during our summer where temperatures reach 50 ° C.
From November to April the temperatures are much more pleasant. The dry and windy climate offers daytime thermal escapes between 20 and 30 degrees. Obviously for those who want there is the opportunity to swim in the calm waters of the Persian Gulf.
The beaches in the city are almost all artificial (the sand is that of the desert and is often reported artificially because building here and they have modified the coast) and so do not imagine the crystal clear waters of the tropics or coral reefs. The sea water is clean and warm enough, but the transparency depends on the suspended sand :-)
Diving enthusiasts can still dive in several nearby sites and admire shipwrecks and mini reefs.
In Dubai, of course, we speak Arabic, but everyone knows English and many sometimes understand and speak Italian ;-)
The best way to get around in Dubai is the taxi (quite cheap) or the elevated subway that goes through the "new" part of the city to Dubai Marina and beyond. In some places the metro "crosses" the Tram, which makes a fairly comfortable loop path. Also for those wishing to visit "La Palma", the artificial island that has just the shape of a palm tree, there is a monorail that leads from the coast to the beautiful hotel Atlantis The Palm (in which there is also a park of water funs). For the more resourceful you can still rent the car, but watch out for traffic ... sometimes at certain times it can be very challenging!
The distances in Dubai are always quite remarkable ... it's not exactly a city to explore on foot, except for some destinations. So my advice is to organize your days well to try to maximize all travel.
For example, if you decide to see the "old" part of Dubai, plan to leave with your morning hike (depending on where you obviously decide to stay) starting from the Al Fahidi district, continuing through the tissue souk, a ride on the Dubai Creek and then after crossing the "river", take a trip to the spices and gold souks.
I assure you that you will need at least the whole day also because in the area there are several museums and cultural centers that deserve a break.
[EXCURSIONS]
The most "popular" excursions are obviously those that take you into the desert to ride the dunes with powerful off-road vehicles. Or, still in the desert, you can go by camel, with the option of an Arab dinner in a tent. Very interesting are the camel races (national sport in these parts) and the activities related to the training of hawks (the favorite animals of local princes and emirs).
Do not miss a boat ride on Dubai Creek with an Abra, the typical local boat.
Must to see: the various Suk of spices, gold and fabrics or silk.

If you want to get an idea of what Dubai was like a couple of centuries ago, you should definitely take a trip to the Al Fahidi fort, a late eighteenth-century building. Addendantrovi in its galleries to find historical evidence of the city. Not far from the fort is the district of Al Fahidi, one of the most characteristic places to visit in Dubai. You will find yourself immersed in a maze of narrow streets with low houses and aristocratic villas. Here the atmosphere of a thousand and one nights is more than assured.
Always on the subject of places of a thousand and one nights, but absolutely fake, is the Madinat Jumeirah, a small neighborhood that houses a luxurious resort, some restaurants and shops all set in perfect 1800s style.
Amusement parks are everywhere, including water attractions and the more "traditional" Lego, Warner and so on. The Dubai Botanical Park is home to beautiful floral "sculptures" and countless plants and flowers from around the world.
Finished ? But go ... at least one visit deserves the Dubai Mall, at the foot of the majestic Burj Khalifa skyscraper (which you can also visit to enjoy a breathtaking view from the 178th floor).
At the Dubai Mall you can admire its aquarium with a submerged cave where you can walk among sharks and tropical fish, for those who want there is also the possibility to dive for a swim with the bull sharks. Also in Dubai Mall there are the famous and beautiful dancing fountains of Dubai.
You have to consider that the Mall takes away at least half a day, so plan the tour so that for dinner you can book a table overlooking the fountains and enjoy good food (I recommend a Lebanese restaurant) and also the show of water and lights of the fountains .
The visit to the Burj Khalifa is good to book in advance, there are usually nice queues, but if you want you can skip the queue paying (a lot) a priority ticket that allows you to climb up to 178th floor (about 400 meters high, the skyscraper measures in total over 800 meters). From there you can access the museum that illustrates the construction of this architectural marvel and the panoramic terrace (if the wind allows it) for a unique view of the city.
For the wealthiest, the Burj Khalifa houses the Armani Hotel and its exclusive restaurant terrace :-)
In addition to the Dubai Mall, another symbol of unbridled consumerism is the Mall of Emirates which also includes the famous ski slope.
In the new area of Dubai the major attractions are located along the beaches and in the immediate surroundings.
The Walk is a 3-kilometer linear walkway that crosses beaches, shops, hotels and various attractions in the Jumeirah Beach area. Another beautiful pedestrian path is the Jumeirah Corniche, 15km of track for jogging along the beach and cycling.
The Dubai Marina is another place to see. A neighborhood built around an artificial canal and home to many interesting places, in addition to resorts and various offices. From Dubai Marina you can take an excursion along the canal and along the coast using the Ferry that will take you to the famous Burj Al Arab, the world's most luxurious 7-star hotel.
The new attractions (which were being built when we were there last time) are the gigantic Ferris wheel on the Jumeirah beach and the "big frame" that allows you to make special photos of Dubai :-)
Who wants to access the Burj Al Arab, must necessarily be a guest of the hotel. The only alternative is to book a table at the restaurant, with obvious impacts on the wallet ;-)
[WHERE TO SLEEP]
The only thing not to worry about in Dubai is to find accommodation. The only thing to worry about in Dubai is how much you want to spend :-)
We have slept both in the hotel and in the apartment. Consider that the hotels are all of good quality especially because they are designed for wealthy tourists and therefore the rates are often in line. However, it is also possible to sleep with reasonable amounts.
The first time we went there were three of us and we found a very good offer in a Rotana hotel (https://www.rotana.com) that included breakfast (which is not discounted) and a spectacular 65sqm room overlooking the gulf.
The second time we came back four years later we were four :-) and since the hotels were almost all out of budget and we needed to cook for our baby of 18 months, we opted for a beautiful apartment in the Dubai Marina area . 130sqm apartment with two bedrooms, three bathrooms, princely room and kitchen ... you must consider that the size of the rooms here are far different than the hotels of the rest of the world ...

However, hotels, resorts and apartments along the coast near the beaches are usually the most expensive. Prices fall in the surroundings of the old city and near the airport. They vary a little along the subway route that runs along the high-flowing road (6 lanes in each direction) that bears the name of the Sheikh Zayed * (who has been missing for several years) and the architect, in fact, of what the Emirates have become. United Arab today.
However, the way to save money is always there, it takes a lot of patience to find good deals either on the hotels or through the usual booking.com, tripadvisor, airbnb or even homeholidays.

[WHAT TO EAT AND WHERE]
Another thing you will not have to worry about in Dubai is the food! There are restaurants, supermarkets, fast food and street food anywhere and at any time of day or night. The various home delivery platforms like Uber Eats, Deliveroo and the like also work very well (in case you have got an apartment and you are too tired to go out for dinner after a day of hiking).

In Dubai there is no real local cuisine. Obviously the influence here is Arabic and so if you choose an Arab restaurant you are not wrong, but there is really anything ... from sushi to Chinese, from Thai to Lebanese, Italian of course everywhere with pizza and pasta ... hamburgers and salads and whoever he has and so forth.
We, when we rented the apartment we obviously decided that to save money and for the needs of the children we would have cooked most of the dinners and prepared the takeaway lunches. Near our accommodation there was a well-stocked Carrefour (right in the middle of Dubai Marina) inside which also had a butcher dedicated to non-Muslims who worked pork.
If you decide to book a hotel, check carefully that breakfast is included, often it is not, and as in the worst traditions made in the USA (successfully exported all over the world) is expensive.
[DUBAI WITH CHILDREN]
Obviously this being a blog for Family Travelers, our attention goes to our little nannies with the backpack. :-)
As I have already told you, Dubai is an absolutely safe city designed for families.
You will be amazed at how many children you will meet around and how many families (although the holiday may not be entirely cheap). The attractions are designed for families, the hotels are equipped for younger guests as well as restaurants and anything else.
You have to think that at the airport of Dubai there is an absolutely free courtesy stroller service that you can use once you get off your plane waiting to retrieve the luggage and the stroller that you have delivered to the hostes before your boarding. This just to give you an idea of what awaits you ...
Dubai has many medical centers, hospitals and pediatric centers. There are pharmacies everywhere and well supplied. Remember, however, that travel insurance must always be stipulated because any emergency medical examination is subject to payment and contingencies may always be there.
We never travel without a cover that ensures maximum serenity. We prefer to save on the hotel, but never on a serious insurance.
That said, remember that Dubai will host the Expo in 2020 and therefore the city is still in great evolutionary ferment.

I parchi di divertimento sono ovunque, tra attrazioni acquatiche e i più "tradizionali" Lego, Warner e così via. Il parco botanico di Dubai ospita delle bellissime "sculture" floreali e una quantità innumerevole di piante e fiori da tutto il mondo.
Finito ? Ma va... almeno una visita la merita il Dubai Mall, ai piedi del maestoso grattacielo Burj Khalifa (che si può anche visitare per godere di una vista mozzafiato dal 178° piano).
Al Dubai Mall potrete ammirare il suo acquarium con tanto di grotta sommersa dove camminare tra squali e pesci tropicali, per chi vuole c'è anche la possibilità di immergersi per una nuotata con gli squali toro. Inoltre sempre al Dubai Mall si trovano le famose e bellissime fontane danzanti di Dubai.
Dovete considerare che il Mall vi porta via almeno mezza giornata, quindi pianificate il giro in modo che per cena possiate prenotare un tavolo vista fontane e gustarvi così del buon cibo (vi consiglio un ristorante Libanese) e anche lo spettacolo di acqua e luci delle fontane.
La visita al Burj Khalifa è bene prenotarla in anticipo, in genere ci sono delle belle code, ma volendo potete saltare la coda pagando (parecchio) un biglietto a priorità che vi permette di salire fino al 178° piano (circa 400 metri di altezza, il grattacielo misura in totale oltre 800 metri). Da li potrete accedere al museo che illustra la costruzione di questa meraviglia architettonica e al terrazzo panoramico (se il vento lo permette) per una vista unica della città.
Per i più facoltosi, il Burj Khalifa ospita l'Armani Hotel e la sua esclusiva terrazza ristorante :-)
Oltre al Dubai Mall, altro simbolo del consumismo sfrenato è il Mall of Emirates che inlclude al suo interno anche la famosa pista da sci.
Nella zona nuova di Dubai le maggiori attrazioni si trovano lungo le spiagge e negli immediati dintorni.
The Walk è un percorso pedonale lineare di 3 km che attraversa spiagge, negozi, hotels e attrazioni varie nella zona di Jumeirah Beach. Altro bellissimo percorso pedonale il Jumeirah Corniche, 15km di pista per fare jogging lungo la spiaggia e andare in bici.
La Dubai Marina è un altro posto da vedere. Un quartiere costruito intorno ad un canale artificiale e ospita molti locali interessanti, oltre ovviamente a resorts e uffici vari.

Da Dubai Marina è possibile effettuare un escursione sul canale e lungo la costa utilizzando il Ferry che vi porterà fino ai pressi del famoso Burj Al Arab, l'hotel 7 stelle più lussuoso del mondo.
Le nuove attrazioni (che stavano costruendo quando ci siamo stati l'ultima volta) sono la gigantesca ruota panoramica sulla spiaggia di Jumeirah e la "grande cornice" che permette di realizzare delle foto particolari di Dubai :-)
Chi vuole accedere al Burj Al Arab, deve necessariamente essere un ospite dell'hotel. L'unica alternativa è prenotare un tavolo al ristorante, con ovvi impatti sul portafoglio ;-)
[DOVE DORMIRE]
L'unica cosa di cui non preoccuparsi a Dubai è quella di trovare un alloggio. L'unica cosa di cui preoccuparsi a Dubai invece è quanto volete spendere :-)
Noi abbiamo dormito sia in hotel che in appartamento. Considerate che gli hotels sono tutti di buon livello soprattutto perchè sono pensati per turisti facoltosi e quindi anche le tariffe spesso sono in linea. Tuttavia è possibile dormire anche con cifre ragionevoli.
La prima volta che siamo andati eravamo in tre e avevamo trovato un'offerta molto buona in un albergo della catena Rotana (https://www.rotana.com) che includeva la prima colazione (cosa non scontata) e una camera spettacolare di 65mq con vista sul golfo.
La secondo volta che siamo tornati a distanza di 4 anni eravamo in quattro :-) e visto che gli hotels erano quasi tutti fuori budget e avevamo bisogno di cucinare per il nostro bimbo di 18 mesi, abbiamo optato per un bellissimo appartamento in zona Dubai Marina. Amwaj Suites Jumeirah Beach Residence gestito dalla catena Roda Hotels (http://www.roda-hotels.com/)
130mq di appartamento con due camere, tre bagni, sala principesca e cucina abitabile... dovete considerare che le dimensioni delle camere qua sono di gran lunga diverse rispetto agli alberghi del resto del mondo...
Comunque, di solito gli hotels, resort e appartamenti che si trovano lungo la costa nelle vicinanze delle spiagge sono i più cari. I prezzi scendono nei dintorni della città vecchia e nelle vicinanze dell'aeroporto. Variano un pò lungo il percorso della metropolitana che costeggia la strada ad alto scorrimento (6 corsie per senso di marcia) che porta il nome dello Sceicco Zayed* (scomparso da diversi anni) e artefice, di fatto, di cio che sono diventati gli Emirati Arabi Uniti oggi.
Comunque il modo per risparmiare c'è sempre, ci vuole solo molta pazienza nel trovare delle buone offerte sia sui site degli hotels o attraverso i soliti booking.com, tripadvisor, airbnb o anche homeholidays.

[COSA MANGIARE E DOVE]
Altra cosa di cui non dovrete preoccuparvi a Dubai è il cibo ! Ci sono ristoranti, supermercati, fastfood e street food ovunque e a qualunque ora del giorno e della notte. Funzionano molto bene anche le varie piattaforme di consegna a domicilio come Uber Eats, Deliveroo e simili (nel caso avete preso un appartamento e siete troppo stanchi per uscire a cena dopo una giornata di escursioni).
A Dubai non c'è una vera e propria cucina locale. Ovviamente l'influenza qua è araba e quindi se scegliete un ristorante arabo non sbagliate, però c'è davvero qualunque cosa... dal sushi al cinese, dal thailandese al libanese, italiano ovviamente ovunque con pizza e pasta... hamburgers e insalate e chi più ne ha e più ne metta.
Noi, quando abbiamo affittato l'appartamento abbiamo ovviamente deciso che per risparmiare e per necessità dei bimbi avremmo cucinato la maggior parte delle cene e preparato i pranzi da asporto. Nelle vicinanze del nostro alloggio c'era un fornitissimo Carrefour (proprio nel mezzo di Dubai Marina) al cui interno aveva anche un macellaio dedicato ai non mussulmani che lavorava la carne di maiale.
Se decidete di prenotare un hotel, verificate bene che la colazione sia inclusa, spesso non lo è, e come nelle peggiori tradizioni made in USA (esportate con successo in tutto il mondo) costa assi cara.
[DUBAI CON I BAMBINI]
Ovviamente essendo questo un blog per Family Travellers, la nostra attenzione va tutta ai nostri piccoli nanetti con lo zainetto. :-)
Vi stupirete di quanti bambini incontrerete in giro e di quante famiglie numerose (malgrado la vacanza potrebbe non essere del tutto economica). Le attrazioni sono pensate per le famiglie, gli hotel sono attrezzati per i piccoli ospiti e così pure i ristoranti e qualunque altra cosa.
Dovete pensare che all'areoporto di Dubai esiste un servizio di passeggini di cortesia assolutamente gratuito che potrete utilizzare una volta scesi dal vostro aereo in attesa di recuperare i bagagli e il passeggino che avete consegnato alle hostes prima del vostro imbarco. Questo solo per darvi un'idea di cosa vi aspetta...
Dubai ha molti centri medici, ospedali e centri pediatrici. Ci sono farmacie ovunque e ben fornite. Ricordatevi però che un'assicurazione viaggio va sempre stipulata perchè qualunque visita medica di emergenza è a pagamento e gli imprevisti possono sempre esserci.
Noi non viaggiamo mai senza una copertura che ci assicuri il massimo della serenità. Preferiamo risparmiare sull'hotel, ma mai su una assicurazione seria.

[ENGLISH VERSION] - Dubai, the incredible city
And here we are!
This time it's up to the beautiful and incredible Dubai! One of the most visited cities in the world thanks to the international airport with the most traffic in the world managed by the Dubai Airports Company. This is also the headquarter of our favourite Air Company :
Many people ask me "But what are you looking for in Dubai? What is there to see?" ... Well, that's right there, the beauty ... we've been there twice in 4 years and it's amazing to see with which speed and with what capacity this city is transformed and realizes architectural projects and attractions that are absolutely unthinkable for us.
From an ethical point of view, we would have to write and discuss for a long time about the history of the last decades of this city and its seemingly meaningless development. However, the Emirs must be credited with being forward-looking from the point of view of economic growth, aware that oil will no longer be the future.
Dubai is a city that I could easily define among the "safest" in the world. Local law based on Islamic (moderate) dictates is respected and enforced without too much trouble.
You have to consider that only 20% of the population of Dubai is of "local" origin, the remaining 80% are foreigners who live and work there, including Europeans.
Most of the inhabitants have Asian origins (India and Pakistan in the first place), as they are the engine that drives the hundreds of hotels and restaurants in the city.
That said, you will not be aware of this majority, as most are invisible to tourists because they work in kitchens, construction companies, cleaning companies and so on. What you will see are the tens or hundreds of luxury cars and boats from which businessmen or young Arab princes often come and their jeweled girlfriends / spouses (all or almost rigorously veiled).
But we return to our journey. Let's start with the weather. Dubai has a sub-Saharan climate and this means that it is the least suitable place to be visited during our summer where temperatures reach 50 ° C.
From November to April the temperatures are much more pleasant. The dry and windy climate offers daytime thermal escapes between 20 and 30 degrees. Obviously for those who want there is the opportunity to swim in the calm waters of the Persian Gulf.
The beaches in the city are almost all artificial (the sand is that of the desert and is often reported artificially because building here and they have modified the coast) and so do not imagine the crystal clear waters of the tropics or coral reefs. The sea water is clean and warm enough, but the transparency depends on the suspended sand :-)
Diving enthusiasts can still dive in several nearby sites and admire shipwrecks and mini reefs.
In Dubai, of course, we speak Arabic, but everyone knows English and many sometimes understand and speak Italian ;-)
The best way to get around in Dubai is the taxi (quite cheap) or the elevated subway that goes through the "new" part of the city to Dubai Marina and beyond. In some places the metro "crosses" the Tram, which makes a fairly comfortable loop path. Also for those wishing to visit "La Palma", the artificial island that has just the shape of a palm tree, there is a monorail that leads from the coast to the beautiful hotel Atlantis The Palm (in which there is also a park of water funs). For the more resourceful you can still rent the car, but watch out for traffic ... sometimes at certain times it can be very challenging!
The distances in Dubai are always quite remarkable ... it's not exactly a city to explore on foot, except for some destinations. So my advice is to organize your days well to try to maximize all travel.
For example, if you decide to see the "old" part of Dubai, plan to leave with your morning hike (depending on where you obviously decide to stay) starting from the Al Fahidi district, continuing through the tissue souk, a ride on the Dubai Creek and then after crossing the "river", take a trip to the spices and gold souks.
I assure you that you will need at least the whole day also because in the area there are several museums and cultural centers that deserve a break.
[EXCURSIONS]
The most "popular" excursions are obviously those that take you into the desert to ride the dunes with powerful off-road vehicles. Or, still in the desert, you can go by camel, with the option of an Arab dinner in a tent. Very interesting are the camel races (national sport in these parts) and the activities related to the training of hawks (the favorite animals of local princes and emirs).
Do not miss a boat ride on Dubai Creek with an Abra, the typical local boat.
Must to see: the various Suk of spices, gold and fabrics or silk.

If you want to get an idea of what Dubai was like a couple of centuries ago, you should definitely take a trip to the Al Fahidi fort, a late eighteenth-century building. Addendantrovi in its galleries to find historical evidence of the city. Not far from the fort is the district of Al Fahidi, one of the most characteristic places to visit in Dubai. You will find yourself immersed in a maze of narrow streets with low houses and aristocratic villas. Here the atmosphere of a thousand and one nights is more than assured.
Always on the subject of places of a thousand and one nights, but absolutely fake, is the Madinat Jumeirah, a small neighborhood that houses a luxurious resort, some restaurants and shops all set in perfect 1800s style.
Amusement parks are everywhere, including water attractions and the more "traditional" Lego, Warner and so on. The Dubai Botanical Park is home to beautiful floral "sculptures" and countless plants and flowers from around the world.
Finished ? But go ... at least one visit deserves the Dubai Mall, at the foot of the majestic Burj Khalifa skyscraper (which you can also visit to enjoy a breathtaking view from the 178th floor).
At the Dubai Mall you can admire its aquarium with a submerged cave where you can walk among sharks and tropical fish, for those who want there is also the possibility to dive for a swim with the bull sharks. Also in Dubai Mall there are the famous and beautiful dancing fountains of Dubai.
You have to consider that the Mall takes away at least half a day, so plan the tour so that for dinner you can book a table overlooking the fountains and enjoy good food (I recommend a Lebanese restaurant) and also the show of water and lights of the fountains .
The visit to the Burj Khalifa is good to book in advance, there are usually nice queues, but if you want you can skip the queue paying (a lot) a priority ticket that allows you to climb up to 178th floor (about 400 meters high, the skyscraper measures in total over 800 meters). From there you can access the museum that illustrates the construction of this architectural marvel and the panoramic terrace (if the wind allows it) for a unique view of the city.
For the wealthiest, the Burj Khalifa houses the Armani Hotel and its exclusive restaurant terrace :-)
In addition to the Dubai Mall, another symbol of unbridled consumerism is the Mall of Emirates which also includes the famous ski slope.
In the new area of Dubai the major attractions are located along the beaches and in the immediate surroundings.
The Walk is a 3-kilometer linear walkway that crosses beaches, shops, hotels and various attractions in the Jumeirah Beach area. Another beautiful pedestrian path is the Jumeirah Corniche, 15km of track for jogging along the beach and cycling.
The Dubai Marina is another place to see. A neighborhood built around an artificial canal and home to many interesting places, in addition to resorts and various offices. From Dubai Marina you can take an excursion along the canal and along the coast using the Ferry that will take you to the famous Burj Al Arab, the world's most luxurious 7-star hotel.
The new attractions (which were being built when we were there last time) are the gigantic Ferris wheel on the Jumeirah beach and the "big frame" that allows you to make special photos of Dubai :-)
Who wants to access the Burj Al Arab, must necessarily be a guest of the hotel. The only alternative is to book a table at the restaurant, with obvious impacts on the wallet ;-)
[WHERE TO SLEEP]
The only thing not to worry about in Dubai is to find accommodation. The only thing to worry about in Dubai is how much you want to spend :-)
We have slept both in the hotel and in the apartment. Consider that the hotels are all of good quality especially because they are designed for wealthy tourists and therefore the rates are often in line. However, it is also possible to sleep with reasonable amounts.
